Have a first time client who is wanting to stream hi res (maybe hiDef) movie trailers in the same quality and playback funtionality as the major networks. This is my first request for this type of work and am "assuming" the networks are using FMS, and private servers. Before I delve inot this, is this the path considered Standard operating procedure for best quality?

Thanks!

I assume most of the major networks use the big CDNs (Content Delivery Networks) who run Flash Media Server:

You can serve HD content from FMS running on your own box, but to get the redundancy, scale, performance, etc for audiences that large, a CDN is probably your best bet.
