be honest now

hi all
streight question -
if all i'm after is a socket server for chat apps and multiplayer flash games
is flash media server an overkill for me ?
a lot of these socket servers are really cheap comparing to flash com (woops, i mean media server...)
and i don't really need video chats or streaming video...
is it the thing to do ?
