Can Flash Media Server convert on the fly
Hi all --
I need your help. We are evaluating if we should purchase Flash Media Server.
We are developing a site that like YouTube allows users to post their videos, and like YouTube we want to have playback only in Flash. Because everyone has Flash players, and technically we think it's the best user experience.
I've been told that Flash Media Server can dynamically convert .AVI, .WMV, .MOV, nearly any kind of video format on-the-fly and serve it out as Flash Video (FLV). If it can do this boom, purchase made. Since otherwise we are looking at scripting either Flash 8 Video Encoder or Sorenson Squeeze. Which is a pain.
If anyone has done this, or can point me to documentation on the subject, or knows anything (so far doc searches have turned up nothing) I'd be very grateful. Thanks so much.
