Question

Can FMS do this?

We are looking to build a flash based app that runs on laptops at events, allowing guest to mash up drum tracks, guitar, piano, etc. to create a 20 second MP3 track. Then save and send their choices to the server associated with their info. They'll be sent an email to come to the web site and download the MP3 they created. Is Flash Media Server a proper tool to combine multiple audio tracks into one MP3 for download (on the fly? or batched).

We may also combine that concept with a pre selected video track of the same length, and the final output would be an Mpeg or similar downloadable file for the consumer. If FMS is not the proper tool, any ideas?

Thanks

Tim

Nope. FMS can't write mp3 files, and can't mix or otherwise edit audio.

I haven't tried it myself, but MDM Zinc projectors can record audio files locally (wav format... you'd need to transcode to mp3 with another application.
