Can I run FMS on same Dedicated server as my regular file hosting?

Preamble:

Im picking up a dedicated server it will be CentOS and be well above the minimum req for FMS 3.5 Interactive.

Question:

I want to use my dedicated server for more then just the FMS. Is this possible? Basically I want to use the same server for FMS and for the file hosting of my site. Obviously I would give it a different IP but am not sure what I will need to do specifically, or if this is even possible any help would be apreciated!! Thankyou.

Sure... you can run FMS on the same box. As you mentioned, you'll want to give FMS an IP separate from your HTTP server so both can have access to port 80. CentOS isn't officially supported, but you wouldn't be the first to install FMS under CentOS

After installing (but before starting the FMS services), open FMS.ini and look for the host port so you can define the IP to bind to (otherwise, FMS will bind to all available).

so smartest thing to do would be to go with red hat server? and Ive read some issues with 3.5 needed to be restarted is that true or have those bugs been fixed as i would like to set it up and for get it type settings.

    Hi,

I would suggest you to use FMS 3.5.3 in specific which has got more features and bug fixes.

Restarting the FMS in Red Hat? Can you elaborate the issue which you are talking about? I can check and let you know the status of the bug or any workaround if it has.
