As you know we are trying to achive quality live streaming with FMS. This quality depends on the users network connection and webcam resolution. No matter what have done, we cannot seem to get smooth video without it pausing.

We need video to qulaity to adapt to bandwidth and video quality per system so the rations should reflect that output and stream accordingly. Below are the values we are using, are there any reccomendtaion or changes we can make to these number to get smooth live video streaming?

Ratios:

if bandwidth <300kbps quality 55%
if bandwidth >300 && <500 quality 65%
if bandwidth >500 & <750 quality 75%
if bandwidth >750 & < 1000 quality 85%
if bandwidth >1000 quality 95%

quality 55% means we are mentaining video quality 55% of original video quality..

In the video streaming application, we  want to have best possible quality with smooth video, for different bandwidth levels. We are checking bandwidth dynamically in time of broadcasting, and setting video quality according to that.Please find the list of video quality and bandwidth mentiond below.

1.Sometimes video is getting paused,
2. We are not getting best possible video quality.
so can anybody please advice whether the above mentioned settings is ok or there is any alternative way to solve this problem.

Thanks,

Steve

    An important thing to keep in mind is that available bandwidth is only one factor in the quality of the video image. Lighting, the performance of the client machine, the camera being used, and other applications making use of the camera device can all play a role.

    Also... do you already have your bandwidth testing process in place? If so, how are you measuring availalable upstream/downstream speeds?

    I have a test application you can use to examine video quality (it's just the client side, you'll need an FMS application to connect to). You can find it here:
