Can't Record Streams

I've been trying to record streams from a webcam and they don't seem to be recording. I've also tried some of the samples for FMS2, mainly the guestbook and the record_tutorial. They both don't store the flv file.

I checked the console while i'm recording and it says that the stream is stored, but when i try to get information about it - by clicking on the stream in the console - it shows 0kb. Even after i've closed the application.

I'm running FMS2 developers edition on a linux box.
