I have installed FMS3 developer edition on my WinXP with default settings (havne't changed anything yet). /live/ and /vod/ apps work like their supposed to but when I try to get e.g. SharedBall in the samples in the document folder to run it gives the following error:
quote:

SecurityError: Error #2028: Local-with-filesystem SWF file file://C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3\documentation\Samples\SharedBall\SharedBall.swf cannot access Internet URL rtmp://localhost/SharedBall.

I've checked the manual, checked the installation tutorials found in here and according to those I've done everything right.

What am I doing wrong?

I think the title is a bit spurious. It really should be: "Flash permissions are giving me a headache."

One way to get up and going quickly is to open the fla in flash authoring, and publish. This should print some stuff out in the debug window... something like :
    "connected is: true
    event.info.level: status
    event.info.code: NetConnection.Connect.Success
    Congratulations! you're connected"

However, more than likely you would be more interested in setting up a security policy such that others will be able to connect. I don't know if another link has updated information on security policies (a lot of flash updates center around security) but this link might help get you started:
