Question

Certain MP4 Files won't stream

I have been doing a series of test encodes with various tools for use with FMS 3.5. In general the tools that I am using utilize libx264 for the H.264 encoding. Things work very well with FFMPEG generated file. Unfortunately, things do not work at all with Handbrake generated files. All of the files pass the FLVCheck tool and I am at a loss on how to continue to debug. It seems FMS doesn't give me a log file which provides any errors related to my issues.

Any ideas where to look?

All files encoded with handbrake do not work with FMS. They do work via progressive download.

I'll send Ed one of the files.

Definitely see if it can be played back locally or via progressive download, or if the problem is only when streamed via FMS. And if it works for pd but not streamed, please send me the file (edchan@adobe.com).

When you say things don't work at all for a file encoded with Handbrake, what do you mean? Can you play the encoded file in a local player? Does it happen with all files encoded with Handbrake, or just one?
