Hi ..

I have an FMS Clustered in Edge-Origin configuration. Can I have

different Origins for different applications but the same edges?. I mean can

I have multiple edges forwarding the requests to the Origins based on the

application name?

From the client... rtmp://edge1.com:1935/application1 --> edge1 will

redirect the request to Origin1. And Origin1 is the place where the

application1 is running actually.

From the client... rtmp://edge1.com:1935/application2 --> edge1 will

redirect the request to Origin2. And Origin2 is the place where the

application2 is running actually.

And if its possible, can someone advice the advantageous of having different

Origins for different Applications?

    You can do that using Access Plug-in which would having logic to redirect to proper origin and you would have to place this access plug-in on your edge server.

    Hi .. thanks for your response. I have very minimum idea of using the fms plugins. I ve just downloaded and started reading about plugins  http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_Plugin/flashmediaserver_3.5_plugin_dev.pdf

    (please advice if i m on the right path)

    would be great if you can advice if its better to use separate origin for separate applications.   instead of having both the applications in the same Origin.  I mean will introduction of plugin have any affect on the performance ?

    Yes you are on right path - you have downloaded correct pdf.

    Plug-in won't have any significant performance impact as such.

    However to your question of using separate origins for separate applications - i can answer that only when i know your use case more in details. Apart from technical consideration you must also be aware that you will that many licenses as number of origins you want to install - so please consider that cost/price impact too.
