Hello,

I want to stream live video content using FMSS. But however, i heard that for live streaming FMS uses VP6 codec.

My clients dont have a very high bandwidth (around 256 kbps), with this codec I am not getting a good quality of video over Internet.

I presume h.264 would give a better quality @ lower bandwidth.

Can ayone help me out?

I want to stream live video wherein client has a bandwidth @ around 256 kbps and the quality of video should be good.

Thanks

    Hi Jayesh,

You wrote "with this codec (VP6) I am not getting a good quality of video  over Internet."

What are you currently using for encoding?  (For instance what software for encoding?  Any hardware encoding? etc.)

    FMSS supports 3 codecs:

    • Sorenson Spark.  Lowest bandwidth, potentially lowest  quality, only encoder built into Flash Player (as of Flash Player 10, since  Flash Player 6)
    • On2 VP6.  Potentially low bandwidth, potentially high  quality.  Requires external application for encoding.
    • H.264.  Potentially highest quality, generally highest  bandwidth.  Requires external application for encoding.

Please note, FMSS just routes packets.  All encoding is external to FMSS.

Hopefully others can reply regarding which encoding option would be best fit for your publishing environment with "bandwidth @ around 256 kbps".
