Question

Configration - Folder structures and media management

Setting up a new 3.5 installation.  We will likely have two very broad categories of content; 1)Live and 2)VOD.  The live will be a small number of streams, but the VOD catalog could grow quite large, tens of thousands or more.  The Live and VOD are managed by two separate groups, and they generally don't mess in each others areas.

Some questions how best to set up the server:

- I would like separate domain names for each area live.xxx.xxx and media.xxx.xxx

- Do I use separate adaptors, or just vhosts?

- Do I need to worry about the number of individual pieces of media in a single directory?  Should I break up the directory structure just for performacne reasons?

Thanks,

_mike

I think you can create two vhosts and point each vhost to different application folder and in those application folder keep only vod and only live. This is the general practice which most of the people follow.

You need to map these vhosts at dns level or you can map them in hosts file.
