Connecting to fms2 through a router

hi ,
i want to connect to fms2 existing on a pc connected to a router ,

a local connection work fine but , when i put my ip it stops working ,

when i connect the pc directly to the internet without the router ,
the connection works good with my ip
but its bothering me because itsnt working when i connect the pc to the router ,
i made a virtual server on the router :
private ip : 192.168.0.100
ports : 19350
TCP and UDP

but nothing changed , still not working ,
i changed the ports in the adaptor.xml to 1350 and 80
and nothing changed too

something to add , when i unplug the router my ip change and is different than
the one when i plug the router , eventhough i tried with both ips and still not worked

so is there any solution ?

i succeed man , thanx a lot .
one month to sort it not bad .
the main thing is 2 pcs because i think my router uses linux or unix based system or commands ,
and after all u should reconfigure the firewall of the computer that contains the fms2 to accept the respectable connection .

make sure you set the rtmp string correctly and probably including a cross domain policy file in your webservers root would be a good idea for good measure.

u mean i have to put my applications on a computer and the FMS on another one ?

nothing will happen you need 2 computers 1 running the webserver and 1 running FMS that way the ports don't conflict....this is the simplest solution and i suggest you find a "affordable" box aka a piece of crap to run apach or IIS on.

i already checked your thread .
well i had no problem connecting directly to my applications .
my problem is my router . it is blocking something that i cant identify till now.
even DLINK didnt support this type of server .
looking to change my router and see what will happen

well thanx for all this , but nothing worked i am still searching , and looking to try another router , it has nothing to do with my firewall because as i said without the router everything works , so the problem can may be the firewall of the router ,
do u know how to turn it down

Well found this on the dlink site... its how to setup a virtual server for various games and such. Not 'exactly' what you need but the steps would be the same. Wouldn't hurt to give it a read and make sure you didn't miss something.

If I remember correctly though, I never did have success configuring a 'virtual server' with the DLink I had and had to resolve the problem by opening up the desired ports and forwarding them (real long URL below):

Also, I found that 'sometimes' the DLink wouldn't accept the configuration change. (I tried two different routers and both had the same problem). I'd have to do a hardware reset (hold the pin in the back in for 5 seconds), then I had one chance to configure it. If I changed the configuration a second time, it would look like it accepted it, but it didn't. I finally switched to Linksys and that fixed the problem immediately. If you can't get the Dlink working, I'd suggest trying to 'borrow' a router from a friend for a day and see if that fixes your problem.

I don't know which revision number you have but I doubt it makes a different. Just in case, pick your revision from the ones listed below..

Oh, one other thing. I don't know what your running for an operating system, but if it is Windows XP or Vista MAKE SURE YOU OPEN THE PORTS ON THE WINDOWS SOFTWARE FIREWALL. I don't know how many times I've made that mistake. Best bet is to turn it off until you get it it working, then configure the firewall ports. And if you have other security software, make sure its not blocking your computer. But I guess.. if it was working locally, this wouldn't be the problem.

And if all else fails you could put the computer in the demilitarized zone on the router (DMZ), but you'll probably need an extra IP from your ISP, and REALLY GOOD SECURITY on the computer.

I think I might have figured out my FMS2 problem... only took a month but I think I got it! It is sad there isn't a stronger development community for FMS2 and adobe/macromedia products in general. Microsoft doesn't make a better product, but they have a better developer community because of shear numbers, so there are plenty of places to find help, tutorials, articles, discussion, etc.. Adobe doesn't have the numbers. It would be worth their while to pay a developer to just sit and answer questions on the forum. If they are going to maintain their market share, the need to make it easy for developers. I get paid to 'produce software'...and for that, I'll use whatever company offers the most productive software development environment.. If developers don't write with their products, they'll lose market share. (anyone listening adobe?). Finished my rant. Sorry ;)

its DLINK DI 524 , ya it should be a port forwarding problem but i dono how to solve it , i tried many ports nothing worked .

Well part of the problem could be "DLINK"

Good for the price, but I've found them to be rather fussy/buggy to configure sometimes.

I don't have internet at the moment, I'm using an internet cafe to send a few emails, but I should have internet back in a few hours and i'll look into it for you later tonight. I've tried to do something similar with DLink routers before and it can be a pain. Give me a few hours.

Now if someone would help me with my problem

. I have to say my experience trying to use macromedia/adobe products has been less than stellar in the department of finding solutions and help. Flex is good and FMS2 is promising, but the if I can't find help to resolve problems, what good is it? If I don't get my problem figured out soon, I'm going to ditch their products and go look at Microsoft's equivalent of FMS2. Silverfish is going to EAT FMS2, if there are better resources to help developers.
