Connection Error playing FMS 3.5 sample via STREAM VIDEO (RTMP)

I have a standard installation of Adobe FMS 3.5, in the sense that it was installed with the default choices, so that its home is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 3.5 and, under that, among other folders one finds "Apache2.2" (the Apache web server home) and "webroot" (the website home). The box OS is MS Windows Server 2003 SP2 and IIS is *not* installed.

When I open a web browser on the box and point it to localhost (http://localhost) or in another machine, and point it to this box http://boxname the nice red-and-black adobe FMS3.5 page comes up and, in the samples tab to the right, under the top red banner, if I click on the bottom selection, "PLAY VIDEO (HTTP)", I can enjoy the train running along the river on the player to its left. However, clicking on the top selection, "STREAM VIDEO (RTMP)" results in no video, but the message "Connection Error. Please press Play to try again."

From the above one concludes that both FMS and Apache are running, but I checked the services anyhow and they are up and running. Also due to poswer outages this machine was recently rebooted, so we we can discard the usual "try rebooting/restarting"

Thank you

Can you check if your firewall is on - i mean is traffic on port 1935 is blocked or not? If its ON then it might be cause of connection not getting through.

You can check if there are any errors on FMS logs - but if you don't see any errors there - that somehow makes me feel that connection did not come to FMS at first place.

    Thanks for the answer, SE_0218

The server is an internal machine and Windows Firewall is not running. In any event, I am starting small, running the Flash Media webpage from the server itself. As for the logs, acess.log reports x-status 404 for x-category "stream" and x-event "play" while remaining events are session|connect/disconnect with x-status 200. The other logs (admin, core edge) seem to reflect connection to the server and nothing looks like an error. If you are looking for a specific log, I can post its details.

Now, is there a way to tweak the homepage code so that the media server reports a more specific error code than "Connection Error"?

    Thanks
