Developer License

Hello,

Is there some kind of developer license available that will let me run a Flash Media Server on localhost?

We have a licensed copy running on our production server, but I do not want our developers messing around in a live environment.

If there is no dev license available, I would greatly appreciate some input on best practices for developing/testing an application that plugs into a Flash Media Server.

Thanks for your time!

Yes very much. By default when you install FMS (before you put in license) - its developer edition. Developer edition can be used to test all functionality but we'll have limitation in number of connections (i.e. max 10 rtmp//50 rtmfp concurrent connections), live http streaming timeout of 30 minutes and multicast timeout of 10 minutes. But i think that should suit you as you just want to try functionality and have developer their own copies to work rather than messing production.

    Excellent!

Can I serve out out publicly with the dev license, or at least within a domain?

The application also needs to run on a mobile app, which gets routed in through public.

The developer license can be used in commercial applications, there are no limitations in the legal area, just in the technical as has already been mentioned.
