Question

Display Timestamps (DTS)

Is there a way to change FMS 4.5 time to Display Timestamps?  I'm using Digital Rapids StreamZHD encoder that's broadcasting to FMS 4.5.  Playback on desktops work fine for multi-bitrate streams, but when viewing on an iPad or iPhone I get a really weird effect.  I have no idea how to describe it, something along the lines of a strobe light or during movement people appear to be having seizures.  Digital Rapids tech support suggested to change the timestamp to DTS.  There assuming FMS is natively set for PTS (Presentation Timestamps).

According to this article http://help.adobe.com/en_US/flashmediaserver/devguide/WSd391de4d9c7bd609-52e437a812a3725dfa0-8000.html  Adobe FMS requires encoders to be configured with absolute time, and Digital Rapids tech support said this was not possible.  Is anyone else using Digtial Rapids encoders?  If so were you able to broadcast multi-bitrate RTMP streams to FMS 4.5 and successfully playback ABR streams to desktops and Apple devices?

I'm actually not even sure if the issue is due to time, but it's the only  idea I've got for now.

One thing to note I've tested using Flash Media Live Encoder and it worked fine, but that's an Adobe product.

    Hi Wally,

I'm just now standing up our Digital Rapids Stream HD encoder to push an RTMP stream to a Flash Media Server. I'm successfully streaming out to a test web page, with embedded Flash player, with a unicast stream. I'm now wanting to enable a multicast stream for multiple network clients. Have you had any experience or luck with configuring multicast between the DR encoder and the FMS server?
