Hi All,

Is there a way to configure echo cancellation with FMIS for a live audio/video chat application? if not, does anyone know how to accomplish this?
We are using both Flash encoder and FMIS which are otherwise working perfectly.

Thanks

Sam

    I have been having the same problem for some time now just assuming that this was something that was hard for Adobe to do. It turns out its not that hard and they have already incorporated it into the 'special' version of Flash Player that gets loaded when you use Adobe Connect Pro. Some people who are following this issue have reverse engineered the special version and it seems to be a branch of Flash Player 9. In other words something that could have gone into flash player 10 and we could all be using right now!

    So why hasn't it gone in yet? Also...Why are are we still waiting for RTMFP? When will VOIP work? Depending on your views of Adobe there are two answers to the first and eprhaps the other questions;

    a) This is very new technology (it may even be the flash 'plugin' architecture mentioned ias long ago as 2003) and as such needs lots and lots of testing before it can be rolled out to developers who will build commercial servcies using it and using Adobe Connect Pro is a good way fo giving it that testing.

    Erm but hang on doesn't Connect Pro cost money? Isn't this sector already dotted with high price systems offering 'collaboration services' (like Webex, GoToMeeting)...I thought Adobe made tools? whats going on?

    b) This is bordering on 'anti-trust' and you've spent all that time building your AV collaboration software for nothing as your never going to be able to compete with the big boys as you dont have the technology, go home now.

    If your interested in the gory details register for the Adobe bug system and follow this thread...

    I think the key here is competition.  If and when microsoft silverlight gets to the stage of having microphone acccess, they for sure will *not* hold the development community hostage with a common sense feature like this.  Then.. we'll see if developers and technology descion makers remember the history of Adobe and start to shy away from its products.

    I'm having the same exact problem, and sources on the web say it's not supported in FMIS, and Adobe docs seem to agree stating that echo surpression is suppported but not echo cancellation.

    FMIS is being positioned for "social media" applications such as multi-user games, conferencing, etc, but the product as it stands cannot meet participate in this market w/o echo cancellation. Headsets or $100 AV equipment is not a viable option for most people IMHO.

    I see that Adobe Connect supports it through the add-on, so why is the capability not being incoporated into the flas Player?

    For anyone listening on the boards, this is a showstopper.
