encoding in FMS

I would like to know whether i can upload any type of video into FMS and it will encode it as flv on the fly while streaming?

    No. FMS does not handle encoding or transcoding.

    For transcoding, have a look at Flash Media Encoding Server. While it will not convert and stream on the fly, it will convert to a format suitable for use with FMS.
