I have gotten the vhost to work with the owner of the applications folder set to root:root

I need to allow them access to their files by cpanel and for that to work their files have to

be owned by their user name user:user well they vhosts can't be accessed unless its root:root

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hi,

I don't think I got your issue clearly. Can you just go into a little more details as to what you exactly want to achieve and what is it that is not working for you. What is the permissions of applications folder that you want to set. If you set it to read-write to group, can your group users not access it still.

Well with  users ftp accounts require that the owner be their username.

While flash media server wants the owner to be root.

If you put the application files in their public_html dir flash media server doesn't like having normal file permissions.

So to get it to work you have to change public_html to 777 from 755 and the applications folder and any files in it

to 777. Now if you make the applications folder anywhere else out side of their html where it has root ownership.

It works with normal fire permissions.
