Hello. I need to record video from a webcam locally, then allow a user to SAVE and then upload to the server. I have heard that this is possible, but most people's first reaction is that Flash only allows saving direct to the server. Any help out there?

If your users are using the Flash Player then there is no way to save the FLV locally. You can stream it from their machine to FMS and have it store it on the server.

With the newly released (and free) Adobe Flash Media Encoder, users could install that on their local machine and use it to record and save the FLV locally. Then you would have to have some sort of web form or FTP access for them to upload the FLV to FMS.

One advantage of using the Flash Media Encoder is that it encodes FLVs with the On2 VP6 codec as opposed to the Flash Player which can only stream with the Sorenson codec.
