FMIS Server - how to check for patches and updates

I have a silly question, how do you verify if your install of FMIS needs updating or security patches?

I currently have FMIS ver 3.5.3 r824a.

How the heck do you even verify if Adobe has a higher version?

FMIS page just says FMIS 3.5

Sheesh, can Adobe make anything straight-forward?

IT dept where I work says one of their security scans implied - that the FMIS install on one of our servers needs updates, what updates, who knows...

    Thanks for the links, but..

I have already found those pages and there is no clear explanations upon them.

Nothing there tells me if I need to update my particular version of FMIS with any of the particular items.

    At http://www.adobe.com/support/flashmediaserver/downloads_updaters.html -

    There is this :

    Flash Media Server 3.5.3
December 18, 2009 Flash Media Server 3.5.3 is a free maintenance update.

This release addresses product issues outlined in the release notes.

...  We installed around April of 2010, so by the date, I presume I do not need this update.

3.53 is not specific enough, release number would be more speific, like 3.5.3 r824a

Is there no way to check for updates within FMIS itself?

Or are surfing the updates pages the only way to try to stay informed?

As of 3.5.3 u need to use it only if u use the new features it offers. But on a global scale i'd always recommend using the latest version cause chances r it has all the bugs fixed prev versions might have. Can u imagine FMS auto updating itself when your customers hold an online conf? Moreover, FMS updates aren't that frequent and critical unless a dot release, say 3 vs 3.5.
