FMS 3.5 Video Tearing

Hello All,

Our company is looing into the FMS tecnology and installed the trail version, we have no problems vewing vod or live content but we do notice that no matter the quality of the video source that we take, once we play the stream, we see some horizontal lines that i could only describe as tearing.... the video does not lose smoothness or anything but you do see the lines and we were wondering if there is any way to reduce them or avoid them...

in part of our testing we placed the same video on a windows media server and we can see it without said lines, we use the same encoder to encode into .wmv or .mp4, i dont think that this is encoder side issues, not only beacuse of this but beacuse when viewing the mp4 locally through a player you dont see the tearing either,

any ideas?

thanks.

Best regards,

Benjamin.

Sounds like the video source is interlaced. When you say the video looks fine when playing locally, are you playing in a flash based player, or another player?

In the case of live streams...if you're using Flash Media Live Encoder as your publishing client, checking the "deinterlace" box in the encoding options panel should fix it for you.

In the case of recorded video files, just re-encode them with your encoder set to deinterlace the video.
