FMS 4.02 64-bit - how to install the authentication add-in?

The FMS_auth_addin_win_v3.msi insists to put the files into C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Flash Media Server 4\conf but the server is installed in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Flash Media Server 4. I nuked all the Abobe content in the 32 bit area, but it keeps re-installing it there.

The server used to run 32-bit FMS 3.5, but since we upgraded, I can't get the authentication addin to work. Can I just copy the thing over?

    Hi,

Thanks for upgrading to FMS 4.

There must be a 64 bit Auth Add in available at www.adobe.com that you can download. This should go in to the correct directory as expected. Even if it doesn't go in to the expected directory, as long as you are sure that you picked up this 64 bit add in, you can (manually) copy the dll/so file into the relevant 'modules' directory and the users.exe in to the correct 'conf' directory.

    Hope it helps.

    found it. thanks

dumb question - why doesn't this come with the server in the default installer? it's not like it would hurt anyone who doesn't use it.

That's an interesting suggestion ! Thanks for that. I don't expect it the add in to come installed with the FMS installation (as it is specific), but it can definitely be bundled with FMS to be installation-ready.

Let's hope the supposed 'dumb question' could prove very useful.

    Cheers.
