FMS Hardware Configuration

Our company is spec'ing out a new server for FMS. We will start with a single license but I'm sure we will expand after the initial rollout and testing. The hardware recommendations on the Macromedia site are less than helpful. We are looking at an HP 585 2 X Dual-Core Xeon with 4GB of PC3200 RAM. Is this enough? Too much? This is a $8000 server. It seems like overkill to me but I have nothing to put it up against.

I would like to know what type of servers this group is using and what you feel is a good setup for your purposes. I appreciate your time with this in advance.

Yep... that server will do. It's probably a little more than you need, but more overhead is good overhead. I'd expect that you'll reach your license limits long before you reach the limits of the physical server.

I have FCS running on a single celeron/1 gig linux box, and I max my licenses before the server even begins to slow down.
