Dear readers,

We want to build an application that allows the user to record a video using their webcam on our site using flash and save the URL in a database using PHP. So that we can allow the user to send the video's to other users etc.

Also we want to offer the user the possibility to upload their movies (per mail and with PHP) and convert them to flash movies, can this also be done using Flash media server?

Thanks so much

Greetings,

Stephen

For the first part - i think it would be combination of recording, some server-side logic(FMS) and PHP - so that should be easily doable.

For the second part of uploading - i would recommend you to use Adobe Media Encoder(but then it wont be available on the fly) or Flash Media Encoder Server(i am not sure whether adobe still supports this - i will confirm you on this) for the encoding all the movies uploaded rather than FMS.

Flash Media Encoder Server is discontinued and you can find details about it here : http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaencoding/ ( i mean why it was discontinued) - i am letting you know this as there are reasons why it was discontinued and also points which other partners you can use - which might be extra info for you.
