Good recent FMS Books anyone?

It's been 6 months since anyone last asked about books. Any suggestions?

I'm really new to Actionscript/Flash/FMS, being a Java developer by trade. But like many I'd like to build a simple video messaging application recording from a webcam. I'm surprised that I can't find any good recent books on FMS2.

Also, should I be learning Actionscript 2.0 or 3.0? Does FMS2 support Actionscript 3.0? Does it make any difference?

Thanks for your help.

None that I'm aware of, although "Programming Flash Communication Server" (O'Reilly) is still 100% applicable. Not a whole lot has changed since 1.5 from a programming standpoint.

    FMS2 doesn't support AS 2 or 3, just 1

Thanks for that - I just ordered it!

I think I'll get "Essential Actionscript 3.0" as well as a more general purpose reference. From what you say, neither AS 2.0 or 3.0 features impact on the FMS programming really, so I may as well go for the most up-to-date UI programming features of AS 3.0 (unless anyone tells me that the AS 2.0 book is much better...)

About actionscript 3, it's only available in Flash 9 beta and Flex, so if you're working with Flash 8 or older, you won't be able to put your new AS3 knowlege into practice.

Depending on your programming background, I wonder if it might make sense to approach AS2 first. If you're coming from an AS1 backbround, I think it might be easier to lean how to work with classes before jumping into packages and such. If you're coming from a Java background, AS3 should seem quite sensible.
