    1. Make sure the FMS processes are running. On windows, you can look in the processes tab in the taks manager. You should see FMSAdmin, FMSEdge, FMSMaster, and FMSCore. I don't speak penguin, so I don't know how to check on Linux.

    2. Make sure ports 1935 and 1111 are open on your firewall.

    3. Try hitting the admin service through a browser to see if it responds. The address will be http://[your server ip or host]:1111/admin .Replace [your server ip or host] with the IP or host name of your FMS server. If you don't get a response, check items 1 and 2 again.

One more thing to check, are you logged in as administrator, and do you have the "show processes from all users" box checked in the processes tab?

If you're in as admin, the box is checked, and none of the FMS processes are running, my best guess is that there was a problem during the FMS installation.

Inside the FMS installation directory, you'll see some batch files for starting and stopping the server. Run the one for starting the server, and then check the task manager again to make sure all of the processes are running.

Next, you'll want to set the processes to start automatically. Open the service manager (typically start->administrative tools->services on windows2003), find the FMS services on the list, and change the startup type to automatic.
