Question

How do I determine if I have native bandwidth detection on my server? (FMIS)

Hello all,

As stated in the title, I want to know how to determine if my server/host has native bandwidth detection.

I have FMIS 3.5 installed on my Linux server. Is this a setting in FMIS or is this something I have to call my host to find out?

Many thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

wordman

From 3.5 on Adobe put in native bw detection. You should read the docs on how to take advantage of it as in the link above. Under 3.5 there was some code that you had to put in manually to your main.asc file.

    Graeme,

    The information on this page:

    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/OSMF/1.0/Dev/WSc6f922f643dd2e6d204590d12a38f1458f-8000.html

    mentions this:

"Using Flash Player 10.1 and Flash Media Server 3.5.3, OSMF provides support for new RTMP features, including Stream Reconnect."

    My FMIS version is:

Flash Media Interactive Server 3.5.1 r516

Does this mean I should update to 3.5.3? I can't afford to make the jump to FMIS 4 yet.

    Thanks in advance!

    Sincerely,

Absolutely, if you haven't updated your software yet then I would recommend doing so.

This should solve all your queries.
