How do you lock down a live stream instance (i.e. rtmp://ip:port/live/instancename) so not just anyone can go and use it?

I did not get what do you mean by "you want to lock the instance" - what exactly you want to achieve - is it that you don't want anyone to connect to it or something?

Sorry for being vague.  Let me start over:

I have been using FMS to serve up On Demand videos for about a new now, but I am new to doing live streams.  When using Flash Live Media Encoder, it seems all I need to know to use a live stream profile is the server address and the stream instance name and I can connect (no username or password or any kind of authentication that I can find to configure on the FMS server).  What is stopping anyone from being able to use that same information to stream live from a particular live instance on our server unauthorized?  I use FlowPlayer as my front-end wrapper to stream the live videos from FMS, so anyone could simply view the source of my page and get that information and be able to connect to that live stream instance whenever the liked.

In Windows Media Server, each stream profile created on the server is bound to a single IP to prevent the above.  How do I do the same in FMS?
