I can not get adobe flash to install. I have uninstalled the previous version.

Adobe flash will not install.  I have uninstalled the previous version, rebooted, and tried to install the new update.  I get an error that it can not connect.  I am using Firefox, flash does not appear on my plugin list.  All of the above have been tried several times with out success.   Any help would be appreciated.
