Hi,from what I gather, when using PHDS, the per-content encryption key is built from the common-key and the content ID (which in PHDS seems to be the filename). When fetching the file manifest (<file>.f4m), a new license is returned every time.When fetching the actual file segments (<file>SegX-FragY), no "session" information or similar is sent. However, the resulting file is never the same between downloads.However, even if the files differ between fetches, it seems that if I cache the segments, serving the same identical segmentes to different users, the different license have no problem decrypting them.Is this something which I can depend on? I.e, I let the manifest requests through every time, so each client gets a their own license. As long as the common-key remains the same, is it safe to cache the segment files, thus allowing us to use regular HTTP caches in front of the FMIS server in order to scale better?The diffs in the segment files, how is this explained? Hi,I'm playing around with FMIS 4.5 and HDS/PHDS. My question is, how do I perform stream authentication on HDS?For RTMP(E) streams I can have an authentication module, but from my experiments (I cannot find any reliable docs on this), neither the auth module or the file module is used for HDS streams. I guess the apache jithttp module doesn't interact at all with the FMIS modules?Have I missed something, or do I have to use apache access control/write an apache module for this?If so, can I leave FMS (edge/core etc) out all together for streaming HDS content (ie send traffic straight to the apache listen port. Hi,In the documentation of flash media server, in Client class, the parameter "methodName" in "call" function says"MethodNameA string indicating a remote method. The string uses the form "[objectPath/]method". For example, the string "someObj/doSomething" tells the client to invoke the NetConnection.someObj.doSomething() method on the client or remote server. Is there any reason to go larger than a "Large" EC2 FMS instance for live streaming HDS and HLS streams via Cloudfront?  Is it correct that the 100 connection limit for the large instance refers to a different P2P protocol?  It is my understanding that when distributing through Cloudfront the EC2 server should not see  very much traffic (just streaming the fragments out to the CDN edge locations).Last but not least, is there any sort of reserve instance pricing option for the FMS server?  I understand the flexibility of being able to turn it off and on as needed, but for my particular client we would prefer to just have it on all the time for them, even though it will rarely be used.  In this use case, the high hourly price and no option to save $ with reserved pricing is a bummer.  Thank you for your help.Best Regards,-Mike

Hi all!It's not clear for me, please help.Is it true that all connections will be handled by FMS (like picture in FMG description)? Or there is only connection initiations and subsequent data go through FMG directly?And in all cases what UDP ports (I prefer UDP for lower latency) I have to open between flash player and FMS/FMGThanks in advance!

I'm not a technical guy and to be honest I'm struggling with some of the terminology on the pricing - can anyone help?  (Shiven, thanks for your recent help on the FMS licence costing).  Basically our service allows users to record video content live to a server and also to watch recorded content form the server.  We currently have a handful of users and the video at this stage is very small files (i.e. no more than 20MB per upload/download).  As you can tell, we're at the early days of start up and are trying to figure out the cost of switching to AWS now and how costs would scale as we develop.  I wouldn't hold you to a price but would you be able to give me a rough estimate of what I should expect to pay per month based on say 100 people using the site across a month?Thanks for any help you can provide!Elvin

Hi!What strategy does the jithttp_module have when it reads a video file for just in time packaging? Does it read the entire file or just what it needs to build its first segment or fragment? Can I configure this strategy?best regardsJohan Acevedo

Hello All,I'm new to FMS, and I'm working through tutorials and examples for the 4.5 version.In trying to follow the directions to set up PHDS, this page says to set the PHDSOutputProtection value in httpd.conf to Required. However, the FMSHttpd service won't start unless I have the PHDSOutputProtection line commented out. Checking the Event Viewer, I see this error: Event Type:ErrorEvent Source:Apache ServiceEvent Category:NoneEvent ID:3299The Apache service named  reported the following error:>>> Invalid command 'PHDSOutputProtection', perhaps misspelled or defined by a module not included in the server configuration .I assume with PHDSOutputProtection commented out that it is defaulting to None. How can I set this value and get around this error? Thanks!

At the moment it isn't possible to publish audio and webcam with flash player and subscribe to this stream with an iphone due to the lack of support for the aac codec of flash player.Now I was wondering if it is possible to publish audio and webcam to a stream and subscribe with and iphone to this stream and remove the audio, so that if people subscribe with a flash player to the stream they can use the audio!Is something like that possible? So people on an iphone don't have audio and people on a flash player client do have audio? I want to make a webcam platform available on an iphone. At the moment it is only flash player on a pc to flash player on a pc.The publishing part is on a pc with flash player.

I'll do my best to explain what I'm attempting to accomplish.  I have live streams being pre-encoded / segmented in HLS format (.ts and .m3u8) and I need to publish these "live" to an AWS instance running FMS.   Everything I've came across so far works using the flash media live encoder which I'm pretty certain I can completely bypass as I already have the streams being encoded and segmented.  Basically I'm looking for a programmatic way to publish these straigh to my AWS instance "live". I have managed to install the trial version of FMS - developer 4.5 using the defaults including Apache, and it works reasonably well. However it has used-up all the available IP addresses so that IIS does not now work. I need IIS and FMS to reside together on the same server, as IIS provides document download and upload for our web-site on a different server. I have tried changing the FMS.ini file to limit the IP and Ports used, but to little use. My server is Win2k8 R2, and IIS V7.5 + V7.0 for FTP; all 64bit.Kind regards Ken Birch
