Question

Installing Apache after the initial install?

Hi everyone,

I looked around the help docs and other posts and wasn't able to come up with an answer for this. Let me preface my question with this - I'm a complete novice when it comes to doing anything with servers. So I apologize for my ignorance.

Here's the scenario: I built an mp3 player using Flex that pulls in files via HTTP from an XML file. My boss then told me that the player will be housed on our Flash Media Server and that I've just become the resident guru for the system. No biggie... Except that I'm pretty much starting at square one with FMS (and using Linux servers). However, I did read that I can make HTTP calls via the Apache instance that installs along with FMS. But, it doesn't look like it got included in our install (I don't see the Apache 2.2 folder listed in the root FMS directory).

So the question now is, what do I need to do to install Apache after the fact? Our server admin can do the legwork, I just need to figure out exactly what to ask him to do.

Thanks!

John

That's certainly one option. I was hoping there was another way to do it. I'm working under the assumption that the there's a reasonable amount of work that goes into setting the server up. If I could avoid having him repeat that, I was going to try. If the only method is to reinstall, that's alright -- that's why I'm here.

    Thanks!
