I am having trouble installing the flash media encoder authentication plugin, version 2.1. when i try, i get a message saying "Please install Macromedia Flash Media Server prior to installing this add-in".

I have Flash Interactive Server installed on the same machine as I am trying to install the add-in.

Any help would be appreciated.

    Ok, after doing some hacking I figured it out.

    The installer is looking for "Flash Media Server 3_is1" in the registry, however the version I have is registered as "Adobe Flash Media Server 3_is1". Thus, I added the following to the registry to trick the installer and everything worked great after that.

    Note: please read all the warnings on microsoft knowledgebase before modifying your registry. You can render your system unusable if you are not careful.

    Note, you can paste the following (starting below the dotted line) into a text file with the extension .reg and double click it to make the changes (assuming you have installed to c:\program files\adobe\flash media server 3\. If not, you should update the file to match your install location.

    Note: your registry may be structured a little differently from mine, so if this doesn't work, you can use the Find utility in registry editor to find "Adobe Flash Media Server 3_is1". Just put the new entry in the same location as that

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\Flash Media Server 3_is1]
    "InstallLocation"="C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Flash Media Server 3\\"
