Hi All

I would like to know if there is a solution available that allows me to plug 2 HDV cameras into a laptop and live switch between the 2 cameras while uploading the live stream via adobe flash media live encoder to the adobe streaming server? the scenario is I want to offer live streaming of corporate seminars that I normally shoot with 2 cameras.

cheers !

angus

    Hi

we have been investigating the same issue - we want to broadcast live events with 3 cameras.

one solution is to stream all cameras to the media server and then use a custom player which allows the user to switch between streams themselves. This works fine as long as you can encode the streams fast enough at the broadcast end (depends on the quality you need and the upstream bandwidth available to you).

we are now looking at a more robust hardware solution to carry out the switching before it even hits the live encoder, so we only ever encode and stream one video signal. I suspect this is where we will go as we want to broadcast in high-quality. I haven't gone so far down this route yet but am looking into digital rapids hardware and software (digital-rapids.com) and will look for a few more before making any buying decisions.

    hope this helps,

    Ben.
