Question

Problems after purchasing FMS licenses

We have an application that works no problems on our server with FMS in test mode. As soon as we enter our FMS license key we get this error:

"application is not a valid signed application loading access denied"

We removed the license key and it works again, but with user limits obviously, so this is not an acceptable fix.

This is happening on two servers. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

This is happening because you have a FMS Streaming Server License and it's only allowed to run two signed applications 'vod' and 'live' or clones of that application.  The developer, i.e. licenseless edition has very low connection and bandwidth limits, but is fully functional for testing purposes.  So, if you plan on deploying a custom application you should speak with your license vendor about returning your Streaming Server license and getting an Interactive Server instead.  Conversely, if you're fine with what VOD and LIVE can do, then you can use those.

Thanks Asa, but I have no idea what is meant by VOD and LIVE. We purchased FMS Streaming Server as we were advised to do so. Looks like that was bad advice. Thanks.

Having had a look at the insance price of Interactive Server, we really do need to find a more suitable solution to our problem. Can someone point us in the right direction. And also, as we have purchased the FMS licenses, which we may now not need if we can't sort this out, are the licenses returanbale and refundable? Thanks.
