putting together a streaming video-on-demand web system

Unfortunately, this document did not contain the information I am seeking. Where exactly in it are the performance statistics that you mentioned? I could not find them. Is there any benchmarks for FMS2 published anywhere? Why doesn't Adobe have data readily available that details exactly how many live streams and concurrent users a single server can support? It would seem like this is fundamental data that would be needed just to sell the product????

I am trying to find documentation somewhere on the Adobe site that clearly outlines the maximum capacities of the Adobe Flash Streaming Media server technology. I need this information in order to develop a business plan for expansion of existing infrastructure. Today we have an OPTERON based/ Dual Core 1.8Ghz server with 2GB of ram and a 100Mbit Ethernet connection running FMS2. This is also the Web server.

I need to know how many simultaneous streams I can serve up from this system before it falls over and dies? All of the videos that we stream are encoded at 800 Kbits to 1.4 Mbits and 720 lines of resolution.

At what point will I need to add a second server? And reasonably, how many simultaneous users can this hardware support? If I bump up the RAM to 4 Gig, how much more capacity does this get me? If I increase the network connection to 1 Gigabit, what does this buy me in terms of additional simultaneous streams? Is network connectivity the real challenge, or is it CPU capacity or memory?

Is there is a document that shows how to architect a streaming server environment to support multiple tiers of users in large numbers? If so, where can I find this data? Something that shows infrastructure required to meet demand of 500 users, 1,000 users, 5,000 users and 10,000 users is what I am seeking. The Adobe web site seems to only have recommended minimum server requirements listed. I need to know theoretical maximums.
