Hello

A few questions

1) What is the correct linking format for standard web browsers? (windows and mac boxes/laptops)

Is rtmp better then http? What are the advantages / disadvantages

rtmp://SERVERIP/livepkgr/streamname

vs

http://serverip/hds-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/streamname.f4m

2) for mobile devices - what mobile phones / pads are supported under this linking format?

where does the android fit in?

http://serverip/hds-live/livepkgr/_definst_/liveevent/streamname.f4m

3)  if i webcast to two servers using the backup - how do i create a roll over code in case a server fails?

Thanks in advance

Desert Mike

1) Your first question is not that trivial. When you say HTTP - there are two ways you deliver HTTP one is pure progressive download and one is HTTP Streaming. Now HTTP Streaming has different implementations - Apple has one , Adobe has one. But in context of URL which you have put up in 1 - both are Flash based - so both would work in any browser provided it has Flash Plug-in. Whether advantage or disadvantage is concerned - it all depends what you are looking for.

2) Any phone which supports flash player , should be able to play HDS stream as pointed in the link - same applies for Android phone.

3) How you do Failover would depend whether you use RTMP or HTTP
