Question

Recording Audio for Playback

Hello,

I work with a university making language learning CDs in Flash CS3 which are often used in locations where there is no internet access.

I have the impression from my readings that audio can only be recorded for playback using the FMS and not locally. Is this accurate? We would like to allow students with no internet access to play back recordings they have just made of their attempts to say their new words.

Any advice?

Thanks for reading!

Yes, the audio is never stored even temporarily stored on the users machine. It is streamed in real-time up to the server and stored as .flv files which can later be played back from the server. There is a company I know of which offers this server recording as a service. It's called www.userplane.com The company I work for has our own FMS servers and let users record to the server but this is a lot more work then just using a company to provide you with this service. So you can go either way. But there is audio stored on the users machine.

Thanks Chris! In your last sentence you said

"But there is audio stored on the users machine."

    You mean the opposite correct?

    Thank you,
