Remote Video Streams constantly buffering
Hello, we're running FMS 3.0 on Redhat Enterprise 4.0. Recently we've encountered an issue with remote users (not on our local network) contantly having a video buffer (this will occur every 3 seconds or so, making the video unwatchable). Our internet connection is 1GB up and 1GB down and we come no where near maxing this out at any time. These same videos play on campus without issue. If it helps we're using JW FLV player. I'm streaming this using the default vod application that ships with the FMS 3.0 (<FMS_ROOT>/applications/vod), and have made no modifications to the fms server as shipped (all default settings are in place). We've not had any issue with videos taken via a Flipcam and converted to FLV and upoaded into vod and streamed, but videos taken with better equipment and uploaded into vod experience this.... Here's the specs on one of these videos:
Image Size: 720 x 480
Pixel Depth: 32
Frame Rate: 29.97
Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - compressed - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
Total Duration: 00;03;01;14
Average Data Rate: 239 KB / second
Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.0
I'm just learning this software, is there a setting to tweak or something to look for that would cause remote connection buffering, while on campus has no issue. Again, we are no where close to maximizing our bandwidth (not even 10%), so I doubt that is the issue. The remote connections experiencing the issue have rangeled from 1.5mb DSL to 10mb cable broadband. Thanks!!
