RTMFP/FMES: can't connect android device (outside network) to client inside network

I got everything else to work (inside pc connec to outside pc via rtmfp and our fmes server that is on the inside).

But, I cannot connect an android device (outside our network) using rtmfp air app to a client on the inside of our network (using our fmes server).

The droid device (outside) CAN connect to a pc that is on the outside with no problem, but not to a pc on the inside.

any ideas?

thank you

Andy G.

    two possibilities come to mind:

      1) your inside network has some kind of firewall blocking UDP from/to the outside, with special holes for your FMS (since you indicate it can be reached from the outside);

      2) your inside network, or portion your inside PC is on, is behind a NAT to the outside, and the FMS sees the inside (translated) address of the PC on the PC's connection but *not* the outside public address. if your android device on the outside is behind a port-restricted cone NAT, symmetric NAT, or a port-restricting firewall of some sort, then no UDP hole will be opened from the android side for the connection to the PC and the connection won't work.

    i saw your previous thread. it appears you have a firewall and NAT going on. the ports you have open in your firewall are for the connection to FMS, but that won't help any direct connections between peers, as they may use any UDP port from 1024-65535.  i can't tell from what you've posted what the inside NAT situation looks like between your PC and FMS, so i don't know if #2 is an issue.  but definitely #1 will be a problem.

    Thank you for your help.

    I think I finally figured it out.

    Our Android device (Samsung Tab) is operating off of the Verizon Wireless network.

    Not sure, but it seems that possibly Verizon is blocking UDP.

    The Tab can connect to another device/PC "outside" our network fine using FMES (which is on the inside).

    But the Tab cannot connect to a PC that is on the "inside" of our network using FMES(on inside).

    Does this sound correct?

    Should I try to get our FMES outside of our network so it will be easier for outside clients to connect to?

    Thank you for your help!
