Hello friends,

I have read that streaming through FMS increase secuirity of the file.It is said that files streaming via rtmp cannot be downloaded.Pls find this link

http://www.applian.com/replay-media-catcher/?AID=10464029&PID=1448936&SID=RMC
this is the link to a software called replay catcher, which is used to download the rtmp protocol based files.
I am bit confused wih it. Is there any way to secuirity using FMS? Why beco'z my company is thinking to use FMS instead of the progressive download beco'z of the secuirity.

Pls help me to find me the correct solution.

Personally, I see DRM as something very complex and there may be an endless series of change&catch/ Hide&Seek games between content-owners Vs pirates. In an ideal scenario, content owner would always be one step ahead from opponents.

IMHO, apart from RTMPE, there many other options provided with FMS3 with various level of protection like SWF hashing, Custom Authentication Adapter in C++ and above all there is a separate product named Adobe Flash Media Rights Management Server.

SWF hashing seems very light on CPU and easy to use on FMS.

I guess there are other people in this forum with more suggestion.

I wanted to intervene here and suggest that that program is supposed to work on non-encrypted RTMP files, but theoretically isn't able to record a RTMPE stream. RTMPE is an encrypted stream of a Flash video.

My answer above gives deference to Adobe's documentation but I have to admit that I placed a video on my server and connected to it using the RTMPE stream and discovered to my surprise that the application you mentioned was able to record the stream.

I am assuming that I just missed a step when creating the SWF file, and have another post here on how to remedy this, so I am pretty confident that Adobe has technologies that can protect your videos from this application.

    Take care,
    Alan

Well there is no such things as a 100% secure method for protecting media. But, rtmp is far more secure than standard file download. Anyone these days can figure out how to get your files if you are using standard file transfer, but it would take a fairly savvy person to actually know about rtmp and then look for a specific tool that will allow them to get a hold on the files.
