Setting up Amazon Web Services Flash Media Interactive Server

Hi,

I've been trying to set up an instance of Flash Media Interactive Server on Amazon Web Services for an AVChat (avchat.net). I signed up for the service here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/amazonwebservices/

I have some simple questions on getting it started --- namely: do I create the FMIS instance myself now that I've signed up, or do I need to go ahead and create it?

I see under the EC2 tab I can create an instance under 'Community AMIs'  for adobe-flashmediaserver-useast/fms-4.0.1.8011-centos-5.5-ami-1.manifest.xml

Is this what I want? I realize this is a bit of a noob question.

once installed what I'm trying to do is to add a folder for AVChat into /opt/macromedia/fms/applications/ ( http://avchat.net/support/documentation/#21 ). I am assuming that once I do have this instance running, I can move/modify files on the server instance.

thanks,

barry

    Hi,

I don't think you need to create any new instances, once you log in to the Amazon web services, as you mentioned , navigate to the EC2 AMIs where you should be able to see the manifests for already available instances for your service. Select and Launch Instance and configure for your purposes.

Let me know if you need anything else.

    Thank you !

    Thanks for your help!

After registering, I never was presented with an instance of FMIS, so I did create one from the community AMIs area. Is this the same thing as the service that is outlined on this page?

    http://www.adobe.com/products/flashmediaserver/amazonwebservices/

The link to 'Documentation and getting started' is a broken link from this page. Otherwise the documentation I have found on adobe's website doesn't cover getting FMIS started on AWS, and otherwise clicking 'Subscribe Now' gets me signed up for AWS, but doesn't seem to give me a pre-setup version of FMS or FMIS.

I don't know if the documentation covers ssh-ing into the instance and setting up a folder/files on the instance (to get AVchat running). Can I modify anything on the amazon instance of FMIS?

Some more background on the signup process: I was given an activation code for FMIS upon signing up for AWS.

    it stated:

An activation key may be required as a part of Adobe Flash Media Server on Amazon Web Services's registration process. If required, copy the activation key displayed to the right and enter it where Adobe Flash Media Server on Amazon Web Services specifies.

Once in the Amazon web services console, I don't know where to enter this, if it is required to get it started. It also says it expires later today (April 25th at 6:53pm). I don't know if I should, or shouldn't have put this in anywhere.

Where can I find the area to enter this key in, or find out if it is needed, or find the FMIS instance running?

I'm really thankful for any help,

    Barry
