Some Videos Won't Play

So, I've got my videos set up on the server structure right.  I've got them referenced properly in the Flash playback component.

But some of the videos on the server stream and some don't.  The ones that don't still show up as connections in the Administrator, though.

Any thoughts as to what I'm missing?  Is there a settting somewhere that I've neglected?

Thanks.

The first thing to consdider is what's different between the files that do play and those that don't. Different file types, different encoding methods, in different directories?

They're FLV files.  They're all in the same file structure.  How can I check encoding (the files are given to us by outside contractors, we didn't encode them ourselves)?  Are there flv encodings that the FMS won't stream?

In general, FMS will stream all flv's with no problem, provided they are properly encoded.

First, I'd run the file through flvcheck. See instructions at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_AdminGuide/WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d119f29261b7-7ffc.html

If the file passes flvcheck, I'd try playing it locally (if you need a desktop FLV player, try http://www.martijndevisser.com/blog/flv-player/ ). If that works, I'd try extracting the metadata (see http://www.buraks.com/flvmdi/ ) to an XML file to see if there's anything goofy in there.
