Stream media using ffmpeg

HI,

I have recently downloaded FMS to check the feasibility of replacing the current RTMP server used. For this purpose I require to encode a stream from capture card using ffmpeg, - which can and is done - to be streamed through FMS. We are running our solution on CentOS hence live encoder cannot be used.

Would anyone be able to provide information on whether this could be done and how?

Thanks in advance

I think ffmpeg is capable of RTMP Streaming so it should be able to publish to FMS properly and you should be able to do workflows which you are getting done in current RTMP server. You can elaborate your use case with proper details and we should be able to help you out.

    Thanks for the quick response.

Use case is to capture video from capture cards, use ffmpeg to encode and publish the stream to a media server(FMS) as live streams.

Then we are required to decide between RTMP/RTMFP over UDP/TCP/HTTP delivery.

Could not find documentation on how to integrate ffmpeg to FMS, most of the documentation describes how to use adobe live encoder/ partner encoders to do this. Would be great if you could point us towards information on how to achive this using ffmpeg as we are required to provide the solution on centOS.

I am not sure whether we have documentation specifically meant for ffmpeg but i suppose ffmpeg might be provoding enough information from thier end how to use ffmpeg for rtmp streaming. Having said that - i don't think there is any major difference from FMS end when it comes to different encoders.
