Is it possible to stream mov/mpg from a web server using Flash without Flash Media Server or other streaming service?

You can use Helix from Real Networks or Quicktime Streaming server to stream mov/mpeg. I usually stick with Helix and Flash.

nope.. you can only progressively download the content, but no streaming
