Stream.my deployment story ( FMS 4.5 )

Our client is migrating from WMS to FMS and using local CDN ( cisco cds-is ) and also international ( Akamai ). We are running 15 live encoders pushing to primary and secondary server.

There are 15 encoders powered by Windows OS and running Osprey Capture Card. FMLE detect the card without any problem.

To send the video, we use Adobe FMLE 3.2 software encoder and Main Concept AAC plugin and Wirecast 4 Pro

We running 2 FMSS 4.5 server acting and Primary and Backup. The video feed then being pulled by local CDN provider but fo the international, we have to push ( Akamai ). If FMS 4.5 have the ability to push the stream to Akamai, this will help us dramatically. Since FMLE 3.2 only limit 2 publishing server, we have to consider Telestream Wirecast 4 Pro

The video player for RTMP is Strobe and OSMF. For HTML5 ( iOS ), we choose Video.JS. You can see the sample code at ( http://control.stream.my/ios ). The code will automatically switch to video.js when open with SAFARI and fallback to Strobe. So you'll have identical video player for ipad and samsung tab on the same page .

The server spec

Primary

- Windows 2008 R2

- 16GB RAM

- Dell R510

- FMSS 4.5

- dual gigabit nic

Secondary

- Windows 2008

- FMSS 4.5

- 6GB RAM

- dual gigabit nic

Issues

1) we have problem testing output for HLS and HDS, turns out to cacheing problem in the browser. Just use different stream name and it works

2) we have to configure CISCO CDS-IS to be able re-stream rtmp,rtmpt,rtmpe,hls,hds..and it works like a charm.

3) still finding ways to restream to Akamai Flash server.

4) For blackberry support, we might to deply a Wowza Media Server and repeat the stream from FMS, and chanelled it back as RTSP

Well we are yet to run in full capacity. I'll update this page regularly

Congratulations Azril, Awesome to know about the success of budget streaming.

The Indian Budget proceedings are also being streamed for the last two years using Flash Media Server (www.webcast.nic.in) and we have another budget streaming added

How was the experience overall ? Can you please give some stats of your stream , how many users etc ?

Thank you !
