Streaming video live with a Video Camera

I am looking to broadcast live video and need a camera that is better than a simple webcam. It looks like they used to make video cameras that would register as webcams, but stopped making them.

If you wanted to broadcast an event live, what would be a good camera to use?

If your camera has a firewire output then use it.  If you do use usb use a pci usb card not an integrated usb port.

you need pinnicle 500-usb adapter /////////so you can hook a camera in such as a sony handy cam into the usb port....microsoft lifecam is a chearper alternative and  appears to be promising(havn't tried it. let me know what you get..

I have a PV-GS85 that has a webcam mode, but Panasonic stopped making it a feature. Any other way to do it?
