unable to watch video

I am unable to view any tv shows or videos online.. I am told that I need to install latest version of Adobe Flash Player.  Checking, I found that Adobe is installed I went through all of the steps to troubleshoot, and downloaded latest version for windows 8.1.  still cannot view .. what am I missing???
