Upgrading FCS 1.5 to FMS2.0

Hi,

I have been using Flash Communication Server 1.5 for quite some time now and have developed a few applications in it. I was just wondering whether Flash Media Server 2 is backwards compatible. So if I upgrade will all of my existing applications still work?

Also, just wondering whether it is worth paying all that extra money for the new server. It doesn't seem like there are any new components, what is the real advantage of this new server?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated,

Don't know if you received your answer, but theoretically, there should be no problem when converting.

So FMS2 still uses AS1 that you author in Flash8 Professional ?

Yes... FMS2 is backwards compatible with FCS. SSAS is still actionscript 1, with the addition of a few new classes (like loadvars, XML socket, and a file class).

As far as upgrading, I don't see any reason to unless you need to make use of the newer features (see the docs for new classes), or unless you need additional capacity (FCS licenses are sort of hard to come by these days).
