Question

Upgrading from FCS MX 1.5?

Hi all,

I'm about to go through an upgrade from Flash Communications Server MX 1.5 to the latest version of FMS.

Can any of you please tell me of any issues, gotchas, things to look forward? If there's an article anywhere that you can point me at, as well, I'd be grateful.

I'm sure the upgrade is easy, but would love to know best practices on what files and folders to backup before hand, just in case a worse-case scenario happens.

TIA,
-Jason

Aside from the obvious of copying your applications directory, you may want to backup your FCS 1.5 confiuration files in case (for some unexpected reason) you need to roll back to 1.5

I've found the upgrade to be fairly painless, as not much has changed as far as the install/configuration process goes. The docs tell you to uninstall FCS 1.5 first, but I've installed FMS without uninstalling 1.5 and not had problems. Just make sure the 1.5 service and 1.5 admin service aren't running or set to run at boot, so they don't grab the ports FMS needs. I'm not necessarily recommending you do that, but I've done it when I needed to makes sure the server would be back up by a given time (no matter what).
